Kavita Joshi is an independent filmmaker and media trainer; and an alumna of FTII Pune. Her films have primarily focused on women's protests for justice in context of the conflict in Manipur. Her work has received several awards in India and abroad, and screened at noted film festivals worldwide.

As a media trainer and teacher, Kavita has been conducting workshops in filmmaking for over 18 years. Over 50 short films and documentaries have been produced in her workshops, and have shown at film festivals in India and abroad.
Kavita is a member of the International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT), and was one of the curators of their Asian Women’s Film Festival in its early editions. She has also served on the jury of various film festivals, including the National Film Awards; the NSFA, India; Jeevika Film Festival; and others. Kavita is based in New Delhi and is inordinately fond of cats and crime fiction.
