III. THE CRAFT OF DOCUMENTARY (1/2 DAY, FREE WORKSHOP)

People often think that documentaries are merely about an "issue" and the "message". However, even as the documentary engages with the world around us, it is also an art form like other kinds of cinema. This workshop de-constructs a documentary to reveal how elements of film-craft – cinematography, sound design, editing and the narrative structure – all work towards creating meaning, mood and impact.
• The documentary used in the session will be Tales from the Margins and other clips.
• Kindly note that this workshop does not involve any shooting or hands-on work.
The first batch was held in April.
