INTRODUCTION TO SCREENWRITING

INTRODUCTION TO SCREENWRITING
Free/Contributory workshop, Delhi

Do you passionately love writing, reading and the movies? Do you have a story to tell? Are you an aspiring filmmaker trying to grasp what distinguishes screenwriting from other forms of writing.

In this workshop we introduce you to the first principle of writing for the screen - show, not tell. What is this principle and why does it matter? A series of fun writing exercises help you apply this principle to your work. You write small situations, share them with others, and get immediate feedback from the tutor(s). You are also introduced to the elements a good story, powerful characterisation and the popular 3-act structure in films.

Please note that the workshop does not cover documentary scriptwriting; and does not involve any shooting or editing.

Duration: 3+ hours
Level: Beginners

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

Beginners. You should ideally be without formal training in fiction filmmaking, but with a passion for writing, reading and films.

Age: 15+ years and above. Working knowledge of English. You may write in English or Hindi during the sessions.
