ELIGIBILITY:
Functional knowledge of English;
preferably 15+ years of age (flexible for serious applicants).

WORKSHOP SYLLABUS & DETAILS: You're introduced to core direction and film making skills using a hands-on approach and practical sessions. By the end of the workshop, you shoot and complete a short project (in teams), with a professional actor.
Week 01, you explore the first principles of direction, editing and narrative construction in films. How does the director guide the viewer's attention in a film? What is the significance of shot taking? Why do camera angles matter?
You learn all this through hands-on shooting, viewing and feedback. You shoot a practical on the DSLR on day 01 itself. Editing sessions, film screenings and discussions round off the week.
Week 02 focuses on screenwriting, working with actors, shot breakdown and story-boarding. You pitch ideas and form teams (4-6 people). Each team locks down its screenplay and makes a storyboard. Your storyboards are discussed and feedback given. You're also introduced to audio equipment like Zoom recorders and headphones.
Each week, midweek there are a some assignments that you work on your own, flexitime (6-8 hours).
Week 03 is for the shoots, held on sat-sunday. An actor will be provided, and project guides will be present, to help you learn even as you shoot.
Week 04 is for editing, where you assemble, discuss and edit your team films. Project guides not only operate software but also discuss your edit decisions and help you learn further while editing.
This is followed by a closing session which includes feedback; counseling; and what next.
PROFESSIONAL ACTOR WILL BE PROVIDED.

- Canon DSLR kit or similar
- Tripod with video head
- Zoom Recorders and audio gear
- FCP on Apple Macs or other edit platforms

We believe that the best learning happens outside the confines of a formal classroom. In keeping with our conviction, we have designed an 'unclassroom' experience for our workshops, at an office-cum-residence. Kindly do not expect an institutional space.
